Universal Orlando: Tips for First-Timers (and Harry Potter Fans!)

Universal Orlando is a thrill-seeker’s paradise—and if you’re a Harry Potter fan? It’s practically a rite of passage. Whether you're planning your first visit or returning for round two, here’s how to make the most of your time at Universal Orlando.

1. Stay at a Premier Resort for Express Passes
Loews Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel, and Portofino Bay include free Unlimited Express Passes. That means you can skip the lines at most attractions—including the wildly popular ones—saving tons of time.

2. Rope Drop Wizarding World
Start your day early at Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley (depending on which park opens first). Early Park Admission is available to resort guests, and trust me, it's worth it to sip Butterbeer with fewer crowds.

3. Use the Hogwarts Express (but have the Park-to-Park ticket!)
The train ride between the two Harry Potter areas is not only magical—it’s different each way. But you’ll need a Park-to-Park ticket to ride.

4. Download the App & Mobile Order
Avoid hangry meltdowns and long food lines by using the Universal app to check wait times and mobile order meals.

5. Pack Light & Stay Cool
Many rides require lockers for bags, so pack light and wear moisture-wicking clothes—Florida heat doesn’t play!

Bonus Tip: Working with a travel advisor (like me!) means you get help booking the right hotel, choosing ticket types, and planning your park days like a pro.
