A Guide to Hogsmeade at Universal Studios Orlando

Step Into the Wizarding World:

If you've ever dreamed of walking through snowy rooftops with a Butterbeer in hand or picking up a wand at Ollivanders, Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is pure magic. Whether you're a lifelong Harry Potter fan or just along for the ride, this immersive section of the park is one of the most unforgettable experiences in Orlando.

Let’s take a stroll through Hogsmeade Village—and make sure you don’t miss a single magical moment.

First, Where Is Hogsmeade?

Hogsmeade is located inside Islands of Adventure, one of the two main theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort. (The other, Universal Studios Florida, is home to Diagon Alley.)

The two Wizarding World areas are connected by the Hogwarts Express, which you can only ride with a Park-to-Park ticket. It’s worth it—not just because it’s practical, but because the ride itself is a magical experience!

Top Things to Do in Hogsmeade

Ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Step inside Hogwarts Castle and join Harry, Ron, and Hermione on a wild adventure through the grounds. The queue alone is worth walking through—even if you don’t ride.

Flight of the Hippogriff
A perfect first coaster for younger kids (36” and up), this gentle ride zips around Hagrid’s hut and Buckbeak’s nest. Bonus: It’s usually a shorter wait!

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
This is one of the most popular rides in the whole park—for good reason. You’ll ride through the Forbidden Forest on Hagrid’s motorbike, meeting magical creatures along the way. It’s fast, smooth, and storytelling gold.

Don’t Miss the Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle
During select evenings, the castle comes to life with music and projections. During the holidays, it’s even more enchanting. Check the app for times!

Food and Drinks: Butterbeer Is Just the Beginning

You have to try Butterbeer—it comes frozen, cold, or hot depending on the season. (Frozen is perfect for warm Orlando days.)

Three Broomsticks
This rustic tavern serves up British fare like shepherd’s pie, fish & chips, and rotisserie chicken. The theming inside feels like you’ve stepped into a scene from the films.

Hog’s Head Pub
Attached to Three Broomsticks, this pub serves Butterbeer (yes, the real one), Pumpkin Juice, and even a few adult beverages.

Wands, Spells, and Shopping Galore

Ollivanders Wand Shop
Watch a wand choose a wizard in the interactive show—or pick your own from the shelves outside. Opt for an interactive wand, and your kids (or you!) can cast spells at various marked spots throughout Hogsmeade.

Honeydukes
This charming candy shop sells Chocolate Frogs, Fizzing Whizzbees, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, and more. Great for souvenirs or sugar-fueled bribes (not that I condone such a thing).

Dervish and Banges
Pick up robes, scarves, journals, and magical trinkets.

Pro Tip: Buy a lanyard or small zip pouch for interactive wand maps and cards—it’s easy for kids to lose track in the excitement.

Tips for Visiting Hogsmeade

  • Dress the part! Robes and house colors make for adorable photos—and staff often interact more with guests in wizarding gear.

  • Visit early or late. Mornings and evenings are less crowded, and the village is especially magical when it’s quieter.

  • Use the Universal app. It’s great for checking ride times and show schedules.

  • Don’t skip the Park-to-Park ticket. Riding the Hogwarts Express both ways gives you two totally different experiences!

Hogsmeade at Universal Orlando isn’t just another section of a theme park—it’s a full sensory journey into a world many of us grew up with. From cobblestone streets to the hum of magic in the air, it’s everything you hoped it would be—and more.

Whether you’re there for thrill rides, the storytelling, or the Butterbeer (no judgment), Hogsmeade is a must-do stop on any Universal itinerary.
